Eddies On Broadway, Acting Up 2017 & Beyond

2017 has been yet another busy year for the St Edmund's College Performing Arts Department.

We started the year diving straight into the rehearsals for this year's College cabaret: Eddies On Broadway, a night of Music, Dance and Drama celebrating everything that is Broadway musical theatre.

The night was an incredible success, a packed Brother R.J. Wallace hall bristled with audience members eagerly anticipating the nights events. The evening comprised of short films, Dances, vocal solos & duets, Drama items, the combined College's Band and much more. It was an incredible evening which ended with a foot tapping, dancing in the aisles number that involved everyone in the cast and even some members of the audience.

Shortly after the Cabaret, 4 days to be exact, the Year 11& 12 Drama classes took part in this years Acting Up! Drama festival. All three groups that took part produced pieces of work that entertained the audience at the Courtyard Theatre. The year 12 Drama group made it through to this years Gala Showcase and performed at the Playhouse Theatre. This is another phenomenal achievement and congratulations should go to all those boys involved.

Things don't slow down in the Performing Arts Department as in Semester 2: we have the Big Band Bash in the College Hall in October. The year 10 extended Drama class are taking part in the Come Alive! Museum Theatre Festival at the Courtyard Theatre and in December the College is hosting its first Christmas Concert in a number of years. Not to mention at the end of term 3 we start auditioning for the 2018 St Edmund's College musical, in conjunction with St Clare's  - Disco Inferno.

A busy time, but we wouldn't want it any other way.
